AdFreak

Hi all,
This is the link of the blog that we discussed in class today. http://adweek.blogs.com/adfreak/

AdFreak is edited by Tim Nudd, and it has six contributors in total. It is a part of Adweek, a website that contains advertising industry news. AdFreak is basically about advertising and marketing in modern society. It shows people the best and the worst of advertising.

To start our discussion, look at the posts by different contributors. Are there any differences between their writing styles? What can you tell from the ads they posted? And what do you think the name of the blog "AdFreak" implies? What do you think the blog is telling about pop culture?

AdRants

Hello all, this is the link for the AdRants website http://www.adrants.com/
Adrants is written by Steve Hall. It focuses on marketing and advertising news. Basically what's new today.
When you look at the blog look at the visual elements of the blog and how it is related to his blog posts. Provide proof for your comment about what the blog features implicitly say about the central theme, values or identity of the blog. Some comments could possibly be made on the martini glasses and the bright and bubbly background, what is the reason for this?

What do the posts and comments seem to say about the blog itself? Does the blog have any effect on our societies knowledge, values, ideas and anything else. Think also about the kinds of blogs he posts. Why do you think he chose these advertisements to write on? What type of relationship does he have with his readers?

Try to interact with each other and look at how other persons posts are similar to or different than your opinions on the blog.

Copyranter

This week we're looking at a blog called Copyranter.

Here are some questions to start our discussion:

What kinds of choices is the author making with his language? Why do you think he's making them?

This blogger says he's a New York copywriter. What do you think is driving his particular interest in global advertising?

Who do you think are the people who comment on these posts? When Copyranter chimes into the conversation, what kind of relationship does he seem to be establishing with them?

What do you think is the function of this blog? What is it's intended purpose?
